Tanah Lot
It is a temple situated on a rocky island on the seafront that offers magnificent views. This temple was built in the 11th century by a Hindu priest from Java who was formerly co-developed the Hindu concept that is still used and applied until now. At this temple’s complex we can also see other temples, one of them is Batu Bolong Temple. This temple is situated on a rocky cliff overlooking the sea, offering stunning views.
Explanation
Tanah Lot Temple is located on top of a large rock off the coast in the village of Beraban, in Tabanan Regency about 30 km from the city of Denpasar. This temple was built on around 3 acres wide rock island, about 10 meters from the beach. When the tide is low, we can walk to approach the temple, but if the tide is high so we could only see from the shore. This temple was built in the 11th century by a Hindu priest from Java named Dang Hyang Nirartha. He is a holy priest who built many temples in Bali. He built temples around Bali, starting from the west when he began traveling from Java to spread Hinduism in Bali. In this temple complex we could see several temples; in the west side we could see a temple on top of a rock cliff, which under the rock has a very large hole. The name of this temple is Batu Bolong Temple. Here we can see very beautiful view of the west coast of Bali. On the east side, we could see the main temple of Tanah Lot.
Under the Tanah Lot temple there is a holy spring that used by residents as a place to take the holy water for the ceremony. The visitors also can take and drink the holy water which believes by the local can bringing good luck. This holy water is also believed can cleanse our minds and bodies from the bad influence. Under the cliff opposite the temple of Tanah Lot there is a unique small cave, inside the cave there are some sea snakes which believed as holy snakes. These snakes are highly venomous snakes, more venomous than cobras. And if you dare enough, you can touch the snakes, and it is believed when touch this snake can bring good luck to those who touch it. This temple is surrounded by a very beautiful rocky beach, where we can play and take pictures here. The temple is also famous as one of the best places in Bali to see the sunset. Here we can see when the sun touches the horizon. While you are enjoying the sunset, you can lay down or sit on the grass or enjoying drinks.
Jatiluwih Rice Terraces
Jatiluwih is a village in north Bali that famous for its spectacular rice terrace scenery. Here you will find the charm of Bali that has been famous throughout the world with a row of rice fields and the atmosphere of beautiful mountains. In Jatiluwih you will be able to feel the atmosphere of a quiet, peaceful and unspoiled countryside.

Jatiluwih is one of Bali’s most spectacular sceneries, located in Tabanan Regency, northern Bali. This place is one of the places included in the World Heritage Site of UNESCO. With an area of more than 660 hectares, the rice fields here offer an amazing rural atmosphere. Rows of rice fields and mountains area will welcome you when visiting here. This place is located approximately 700 meters above the sea level. The existence of sacred Mount Batukaru nearby Jatiluwih rice terrace makes this place look very beautiful and stunning. The mountain is overgrown with trees that are very dense and green, looks harmonious with the row of the rice fields here. Throughout the eyes see, you will be able to enjoy the fresh and green atmosphere, making you feel just like in a soothing world. This place is also surrounded by a river with a very clear water, where the residents use the river as a place to bathe and wash clothes. Here you can also learn about the irrigation system in Bali called the Subak system. A water distribution system that distributes water to all paddy fields fairly and equally. This system was created by the people of Bali in the 9th century to avoid grabbing water for the fields. Where canals and rivers play an important role in this irrigation system. In Jatiluwih rice terraces we can see the beautiful countryside where the people are very friendly and smiling when they see you.
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple in Bedugul Village
This temple is on the waters of Lake Beratan, and many people call it as floating temple. Because it is in a mountainous area, so the temperature of this place is very cool. In this temple complex we can see several shrines with multiple roofs, making this place even more beautiful.

This temple is in the village of Bedugul in Tabanan regency, approximately 50 km from Denpasar. This temple is located on the edge of Lake Beratan which surrounded by mountains and located approximately 1100 m above sea level. Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is built in the 17th century by the king of Mengwi Kingdom, I Gusti Agung Putu. The temple is very famous for its beauty, because here we can see a temple that look like floating above the water. Many tourists from different countries come to this place because this is one of the most beautiful temples in Bali. The lake that surrounds this temple is Lake Beratan which is one of the water sources for the farmers in this area. Told as the local people’s gratitude for the abundant bounty of water, the temple was established as a place of worship of God’s greatness. This temple was established as a place of worship of God’s manifestation of Lord Shiva and Goddess of prosperity of Goddess Parwathi. When you enter this temple area, you will be able to see the expanse of the park with the lush and green grass. Various flowers grow here, perfect for those of you who like to take pictures. Outside of the temple, there is also a large tree that has been aged hundreds of years believed to be a sacred tree for the local people. In addition, there are also a row of large pine trees that make this garden more beautiful. To the left of the outer temple area there is also a large stupa with some Budha statues, as a place of Buddhist worship. Because the temple was once used also for Buddhists to pray. Hindu people also worship in this place, as many of them also believe in Buddha. A harmonization manifested in real-world practice. When entering the sacred area of the temple, you will be able to see a huge gate with a very beautiful carving. This gate is split into two parts on the right and left like a wing, which is called “candi bentar” in Balinese culture. After passing this gate, you will see a large building on the right that is used as a place of dance and Balinese art performances when there is a ceremony at this temple. There is also a pavilion used as a place to make offerings and ceremonial equipment. We also can see another huge gate at the northern side that limits this yard to the next yard. This gate has three doors, the left- and right-hand side doors is used as the entry and exit for the common people who would like to pray. The middle door is a holy door, used as the crossing for the holy men and the crossing door when the inhabitants here carry the symbols of God like holy statues, artifacts and other holy items out of temple when there is a certain religious activity. In the inner courtyard we will be able to see many shrines as the place of worship for the different Gods and Goddesses in Hinduism. There are also shrines with multi-levels roof here and the highest roof is eleven levels. This kind of shrine symbolizes mountain, because the mountain is one of the holy places for Hinduism. Besides the main temple, above the Lake Beratan there are two temples. These two temples are the place to worship the Goddess of prosperity that is Goddess Parwathi. When there is a ceremony here, people will make small bridges that can facilitate residents perform ritual activities at these two temples that located on the water. At the southern side from this temple complex, there is also a temple with a very large dragon statue and overgrown with dense bamboo plants. In Ulun Danu Bedugul Temple complex, you will not feel bored to take pictures because of the beautiful scenery. The lake is around of 3.8 km wide with a depth of approximately 22 m. Besides walking around, we also can rent a motor boat to enjoy the beauty of this area. Because there are a lot of local people renting their boats for visitors.
Gigantic Bayan Ancient Tree
This is a Kapok Tree that is 7 centuries old. Because of its very old age, the shape of this tree trunk is very unique and sturdy. Located in a quiet village in a Hindu temple area, this is a very beautiful photo spot.

Lately Banjar Bayan is often visited by local and foreign tourists because of the existence of this ancient giant tree. This tree is actually a Kapok Tree which is approximately 700 years old, with a height of 75 meters with a diameter of approximately 60 meters. The towering tree is right behind the Hindu temple, so this tree is located in a sacred area. It is said that the Giant Tree already existed long before the temple was built. With the increasing number of tourist visits to this village, this helps the economy of the residents and this village
